Lately I have been reading a book called ‘The Soul of Popular Culture’ where I have looked into Jung’s theory of how mythology makes it’s way through society and the dyad he uses to map out the personal, cultural and collective unconscious.
I thought that that this may work well as a template for abstract art. I experimented using different colours and textures within each section of the diagram. It is said in the book that the cultural unconscious works like the earths atmosphere with gradual change and the collective unconscious is like the constellation of stars changing very rarely. Though the personal unconscious in the centre of the diagram changes regularly throughout a lifetime.
